Good morning friends,
With the beautiful Spring weather upon us, we finally set up the 12-foot inflatable we purchased from you guys for my brother's Christmas present. We picked up an old 20-horse Honda from a great guy on Craigslist, bolted on the engine and headed for open water.
We met our old mini speedboat on the way, a ten-foot racing hull with a 2-stroke 25 Merc and a license to fly. We raced them on the start of their journey to Lanceville, getting up on a plane first and holding speed far ahead of the small plywood boat. Circling up we grabbed gas and pizza (the essencials of any cruise), then made Denman Island 3 miles past Departure Bay before turning and running for home. The inflatable is a dream, riding a 3-foot wave at cruising speed without missing a beat. With the engine at wide open throttle we easily clocked 20 knots with the two of us, and maintained our plane at half throttle doing a solid 14 and getting 14 miles to the gallon. Even coming into our bay at quarter power, we still kept our plane, skimming effortlessly over the surface of the water smooth as silk. She's faster than our speedboat, more fuel efficient than our hardtop, mor durable than our aluminum, more comfortable than our tri-hull, and more stable than our catamaran. Yes folks, she's five boats in one - a real keeper!
We're heading for far-off islands to camp this Summer, De Coursi and Wallace and Jedediah. We hope to make Desolation Sound later on in the Summer. I'll send you some photos as we return to our home port of call.
WE LOVE OUR NEW BOAT!
In His care,
